How to deliver successful projects in half the time, all the time!

Advanced Projects, Inc. (AP) was formed to enable you to increasingly satisfy all project stakeholders, internal and external to your organization. (API) leads the field deploying Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) in government and industry. API focused on CCPM after the introduction of critical chain scheduling in the mid-1990s. CCPM, defined in API president Lawrence Leach’s book Critical Chain Project Management, combines critical chain scheduling with other essential project management tools as defined by the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK™ Guide.) API provides the only CCPM seminar delivered through the PMI’s PM Seminar series. API is currently assisting the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, and many commercial clients, deploying CCPM. API’s deployment experience extends to cultures around the globe. Associates from around the world contribute to API.

Taking a lean approach to project success.

We have figured out how to climb out of the well of complex systems. Although well versed in the complexity and detail orientation of heavy tools such as conventional project management according to the 1,000 page books and now over 400 page Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), and the statistical depth of Six Sigma, we embrace the principles of agile project management and lean systems. Unlike companies built on one set of teachings, we have developed a flexible approach to match your unique company needs. We will enable you to:

  • Focus on and increase the flow of successful projects.
  • Understand the value stream in your company, and how to get the most out of it.
  • Reduce the stress that many project teams face.
  • Develop a realistic vision of success.
  • Deploy a successful project plan to achieve your vision.
  • Create the pull necessary to achieve success.

API recently released ProjectPlanPro, a project plan development aid, and CCPM+™, a CCPM software add-in to MS Project. You may wish to have a look at some of our Free Publications.

Why do you think I need your help in doing this? Doesn't getting consulting help mean I am not up to the job?

I am fully convinced that were you to take on creating project system changes in companies, you could be as successful at it as we are. You may be even more successful, not repeating some of the mistakes we have made and learned from in over thirty years of honing our successful approach over a wide variety of project types and organization cultures. Unfortunately, few companies have the time or inclination to let you experience the failures necessary to learn the path to success. And, few companies hire people to plan and lead organizational process and behavior change (some enlightened Six Sigma companies a noted exception): most have a real, full-time day job. The stories of all wildly successful leaders such as Jack Welch of GE have a key consultant or even teams of consultants behind them.

PS: Although not all companies have been able to successfully gain the full benefits of CCPM, none have ever made their project success worse.
