Drum
When operating in the Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) mode, the drum resource is the constraint
of a multi-project system. It is the most loaded resource shared across projects. It need not
be the critical chain, although it
frequently is. It should be a resource that is difficult (cost, time, unique) to elevate (increase).
The drum resource is only
meaningful in a multi-project environment.
Project Priority
Project priority is assigned for access to the organization constraining resource, called the drum.
Priority assignment
leads to staggering the start of projects to not overload the drum resource. Priority assignment should
be based on
maximizing the business goal, now and in the future.

Schedule
The Drum Schedule schedules use of the drum resource for all projects. It requires the drum resource
demand from all
projects. It identifies the links to projects through the Capacity Constraint Buffers.
